It took you a while to learn how to live in an overly anxious state of being; it will take some time to get balanced. The length of time it takes to get better depends on the methods you use, if those methods are addressing the cause of your anxiety and you in general. Because you have anxiety you likely have some sort of expectations of how you should perform or perfectionism but that part of you can potentially derail your progress if you don’t allow yourself enough time.
You can compare this process to grieving, it takes time, don’t rush it, there may be times when you feel like you are going backwards but that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. In a way you are grieving because you are letting go of the anxious person you have become and all the habits and thoughts that go with that persona.
