Centralizing data storage
Data management of business is increasingly complex and important to growing pressure safety regulatory compliance and corporate governance. The technology allows companies to create and store more data exponentially.

1. Network Attached Storage – NAS – A NAS unit is essentially a standalone device connected to a computer network with the sole purpose of providing file-based data storage to other devices on the network. The operating system and other programs
NAS provided in the functionality of data storage, file systems and file access, management of these features. The device is not designed to perform tasks computing in general, but may be technically possible to run other programs on it.
NAS devices generally have no keyboard or display, and are controlled and configured in the network, often by connecting a navigation program, its network address. NAS systems contain one or more hard disks, often organized into logical, redundant storage containers or RAID arrays (Redundant Array of Independent Disks / independent).
NAS removes the responsibility service files from other network servers. A NAS device is a simplified version of the file server. Authorized clients can see the folders and files. Installation is mounting rack, connect the power and Ethernet, and configuration through a simple browser based tool. NAS devices are often used to consolidate file services. To avoid the proliferation of file servers, a single NAS device could replace many standard file servers, This simplifies the management costs and reduce the workload for the system administrator.
2. Direct Attached Storage – This is the most common form of server storage. The discs can be kept within the server or may be at a table that is connected directly to the server. However, the storage can be accessed by this server.
The main protocols used in DAS are SCSI, SAS and Fiber Channel. Traditionally, a DAS system allows for expansion of capacity storage server, while maintaining the bandwidth and high data access. A typical DAS system consists of one or more boxes from operation storage devices like hard drives and one or more controllers. The interface with the server or workstation is a HBA (Host Bus Adapter).
Backups should be performed on each server with a dedicated tape drive or LAN device for sharing the band, drink a lot of bandwidth. Storage can be added through the application server Adding physical disks, and rebuild the storage array. In small institutions, this system can work OK, but it is very difficult to manage the number of servers. Backup increasingly difficult, and because the actions of storage is not at hand, the storage utilization generally very low in some servers and overflowing in others.
3. Storage Area Networks – SAN – Storage Area Network (SAN) architecture is to enclose the storage devices remote computer (such as disk arrays, tape libraries and optical jukeboxes) to servers for the system performance of the devices appear as locally attached.
Although the cost and complexity are dropping, in 2007, not
still rare outside large firms. Unlike a SAN, Network Attached Storage (NAS) uses file-based protocols such as NFS or SMB / CIFS, it is clear that the storage is remote, computers and apply a portion of an abstract file rather than a disk block.

If two independent systems resided in a local file shared LUN, it would not be aware of this fact would not means to synchronize the cache and, ultimately, could corrupt each other. Therefore, the exchange of data between computers through a SAN requires solutions innovative, such as SAN file systems or computer clusters.
Despite these issues, SAN help increase capacity utilization of storage since multiple servers share storage space in disk arrays. Joint implementation of a SAN is to use the site transactional data that require high block speed, level access units hard, like email servers, databases and high utilization of file servers. By contrast, NAS allows multiple computers access the same file system on the network and synchronize their access. Recently, the introduction of NAS heads allowed easy conversion of SAN storage NAS.
4. All-in-one networked storage – all-in-One Network Storage Device combines the capabilities of SAN and NAS offers flexibility to companies.
By combining block and file storage level, the local network clients have direct access to shared files in the all-in-one server and storage applications share. Instead of having to predict how much storage space is required for sharing files over the application data storage can be assigned to a pool central.
